“20 Days in Mariupol” by Mstislav Chernov won the BAFTA award as the best documentary film


The Ukrainian documentary film “20 Days in Mariupol” directed by Mstislav Chernov, has won the Best Documentary Film Award at the British BAFTA Awards. The film, which had been nominated in two categories, showcases the events in the city of Mariupol during its siege by Russian troops in February-March 2022. Besides being the highest-grossing documentary film at the Ukrainian box office, Chernov’s work had earlier been recognized by the American Academy Award and the Directors Guild of America (DGA Awards). Other notable winners at the BAFTA Awards included “Oppenheimer,” “The Boy and the Heron,” and “Area of Interest.”
