Mercedes Recalls Dozens Of Cars And SUVs Over Fuel Pump Issue

9

Mercedes-Benz has issued a recall for 79,676 vehicles in the United States due to a fault in the fuel pump impeller that could cause loss of power. The recall includes various models manufactured between August 1, 2021, and March 31, 2023, such as the GLE, GLS, C-Class, E-Class, S-Class, SL, E-Class Coupe, E-Class Convertible, CLS, AMG GT 4-Door Coupe, and G-Class. The issue was initially identified in June 2022 when reports of inconsistent power delivery in certain Mercedes-Benz models began to surface. The recall notice states that the impeller could deform and come into contact with the housing, leading to mechanical resistance, potentially resulting in the fuel pump shutting down. Dealers were alerted in December 2023 and owners will be notified before February 13, 2024.
